Sam Bautista Blog Post

What happened in this chapter is we meet out characters Jem, and scout. Jem broke his arm, and he was afraid of never to be able to play football again, until his arm healed. Another character we met was Dill, and he gave Jem, and scout the idea to try and get Boo Radley out, Boo is a man that has not been seen in years, he always stays inside his home, jem, and scout don’t have that many relatives, only their father Atticus’s brother, and sister. Jem, and Scout’s mom died, at a very early age for them,Scout didn’t really know her mom since she died when she couldn’t remember her, but she died when Jem could remember her so, he sometimes gets sad when he thinks of her. When they meet dill Dill tells them he can read which is a good thing in the south back then, he tells them he’s read dracula, and Jem tells him to tell him about, they start telling him some info about boo, about how he was with the wrong crowd, and got into some trouble, Dill dares Jem to touch the radley house, jem did it but it took him some time to get the courage to do it, once he did it he ran away.

Some of my thoughts about this chapter is that why would they keep their kid in the house for 15 years? After court 15 years ago he hasn’t been seen by anyone since then. It is kind of weird that atticus raises, jem, and scout differently, by having them call him sir, or atticus, not what the normal parent would do. I also think the reason he does this is because of his morales of acting in the same manner even though nobody is watching. So far this book has gotten me very hooked (Just like every book we read in Mr.Boyles class) but this book is different than the others in some way.
