The Beginning of Chapter Four

The beginning of the chapter had started out with them coming home from the last school day of the year. Which means that in a couple of days Dill will be coming to Maycomb to spend the summer with his Aunt Rachel. Jem and especially Scout are excited for Dill to be coming, since they love playing games with him and hanging out with him. When coming home from school Scout had spotted a piece of fresh gum in the tree by the Radley house. She had instantly put it in her mouth and Jem had made her spit it out. They both were kind of confused at why there had been fresh gum in the tree. Personally, I thought it was a bit weird for a couple pieces of gum to be in the middle of a tree.
Scout had gone by the tree after a day and had found Indian
coins. Jem had inspected them and he had found out that the coins were pretty old. It was then the both started wondering if someone was hiding their things in the tree and if it was right for them to take things from the tree and they suspect it could be one of the Radley's, because no kid from school passes the Radley house, except for them and no one would dare to hide their things in a tree in front of the Radley house. I honestly think that Boo Radley or any kid is putting these items in the tree, I think that some sort of animal is doing this, possibly a squirrel or some sort of animal like it. Jem then decides to keep them and when school had come he was going to go around asking if it was one of the students that the coins belonged to. Dill had arrived two days later and they had played with Dill.
