TKAM Chapter 10 and part of Chapter 11

The last thing that we had left off on chapter ten is that Tim Robinson, is a dog that has rabies, and Atticus might shoot him. They would shoot Tim Robinson because he might bite someone, and the person who gets bitten by him, will get rabies. Mr.Tate gives Atticus a rifle, so he could shoot at Tim, Atticus said that he has never shot a gun since thirty years ago, Atticus refused to fire the rifle. Atticus gets the rifle, and stood in the middle of the streets, his glasses fell on to the ground, he saw Tim Robinson at the Radley's front gate, Atticus then shot Tim. Jem was in shock that Atticus had a rifle, and had shot Tim Robinson.
Jem thought that Atticus was to old and scared to get a rifle and shoot at something. Jem had told Scout that the rifle was part of Atticus, and that Atticus had shot Tim Robinson really quickly. Miss Maudie then tells Scout if she still thinks that her father, Scout says no. Atticus stopped shooting things when he was a man because God had given him an unfair advantage to most living things. Miss Maudie said that he will only shoot, when he has to for example, how he had shot Tim Robinson, so no one else would get bitten, and have a infection.
We meet a new character in chapter eleven, he name is Mrs. Dubose, Scout says that it is is impossible for someone to go into town without passing her house, or else you would have to go a mile to reach town, by not passing her house. Scout and Jem had always hated Mrs. Dubose because when she was on her porch, and they were passing by, Mrs. Dubose would interrogate them to their behavior. When Scout says hey to Mrs. Dubose, she would say do not say hey to me you ugly girl, and instead Mrs. Dubose would tell Scout to say good afternoon to her.
When Jem and Scout were passing in to go to town, so Jem could buy his steam engine, and buy a baton for Scout, Mrs. Dubose said what they were doing at that time going into town. She says if Atticus knows where they are going, Jem tells her that they have been going into town, when they were even more little, Mrs. Dubose thinks that Jem is lying, and then tells Scout why she is not wearing a dress. Jem had snatched Scout's baton and ran up to Mrs. Dubose' house, Jem would not calm down, and would cut all of Mrs. Dubose' camellia brush, and then he had bent Scout's baton, and snapped it in half, Scout started to shriek, and Jem yanked Scout's hair and said that he did not care about her baton, and said that he would do it again.
Atticus tells Jem if he had cut Mrs. Dubose brushes, and Jem said yes because she had called Atticus that he had lawed for African Americans, and trash. Atticus then tells Jem to go say sorry to her, Jem comes back and tells Atticus that he has to read to her out loud for a whole moth, after school, and on Saturdays.

  1. First of all, good with your summary. You were detailed on how Atticus had to shoot Tim Johnson. You were able to say a lot about how the children saw a new part of Atticus. Second of all, you were very detailed about the ordeal with Mrs. Dubose, and how she was very crude to Scout and Jem. However, I would like to see some opinion here. You did very well with the summary, but next time, add a paragraph or two about your opinions of the events in the reading.

  2. You where wrong when you said it was impossible for someone to go into town without passing her. The only ones that it was impossible for was jem, and scout. honestly I would of done more than cut her flowers in her garden. You also forgot to put that her has to tend to her garden every saturday. But overall good summary
